Christmas music!?

Well,
it IS Christmas after all and Crhistmas music is being played on the CD player here at the library , interspersed with music floating in through open windows of the library from some lovely young ladies trying their best to play all the Christmas standards.
The lovely ladies from SAFE are out on the streets dressed in Dalmation suits complete with floppy ears. I must give them some money just for dressing up and being in public all day.
I am asking all the children if it is hard being good until Christmas and reminding all the adults to 'be good until Christmas", which usually earns me a smile.
I do not have anything I want for Christmas, save some time to sit and savour a good book or three with no interuptions, duties, or chores.
Have a Happy Christmas and Have fun being good!
If you cannot be good, enjoy yourself anyway, just do not hurt anyone else in the process..

WE have all your sunshine and warmth and are keeping it over the Christmas Holidays and into Feburary if possible.
It is officially summer here and the sun is out and the rain is warm.

Reviving an old blog August 5 2009

Hello to All and Sundry!

I have not been here for some time and am returning as an exercise for AKCL (Auckland City Libraries).

We are learning new things about the web and stuff to increase our knowledge and helpfulness to the patrons and public at large.

Today is Wednesday the 5th of August 2009. It is my late night at St. Heliers Library which means I start @ 9AM and finish @ 6pm.
My late night workmates are Avis Ackerman (from South Africa) and Rosalind Lee (from Malasia). I am from Texas, originally. We are a lovely little UN group that has worked together for the last 10 years here at St. Heliers Library.

The weather is clear blue skies, crisp sunshine and a cool breeze as it is the end time of winter here in the Antipodes.

I am just recovering from the (Supposed Swine) Flu, followed by the trademark relapse and now trying to expel the last of the sickness from my lungs. It is my second day back at work after a week off ' limiting my public access' at the suggestion from my doctor.

Auckland is in the middle of trying to assimilate from several/ many small towns into a larger municipality. It is interesting times.
